Solutions & Process

We have provided a complete 200TPH alluvial gold wash plant to Mali. The whole line of equipment includes the vibrating feeder, trommel scrubber, high frequency vibration screen, shaking table,  sluice boxes, water pumps, belt conveyors, etc

This customer provided his raw ore information as follows:

  • Raw materials contain sticky clay
  • The gold nugget size is around 6-12mm
  • The maximum ore feeding size is 230mm
  • Processing capacity is 200 tons per hour

According to the above information and the customer’s requirements, we have designed the most effective process flowchart for this tin project.

Process Design Solution

1. The truck unloads the ore into the hopper, and the stone enters the vibrating feeder from the lower part of the hopper; the scrap larger than 75 mm will be separated by the vibrating feeder grizzly bar and transferred by a conveyor to a stockpile.

2. The vibrating feeder feeds the less than 75mm ores evenly to the trommel scrubber to wash. They are connected by a trough.

3. The less than 75mm washed materials from the trommel scrubber will be sent to the first vibration screen with a 6mm mesh.

4. The material 0- 6mm will pass through the mesh and flow to the 4 sets of gold sluice boxes. And materials 6- 75mm will flow through the height difference to the next vibrating screen.

5. The materials 6- 12mm will pass through the mesh and flow to the fifth gold sluice box. The scrap of more than 12 mm will be transferred by a conveyor to another stockpile.

6. The tails of the 5 gold sluice boxes will flow to the sixth sluice box for further recovery.

7. Through this setup, you can get most of the gold particles. Follow-up can be equipped with a gold shaking table and other equipment for further selection. You can get other sizes of gold nuggets by changing the mesh sizes.

Customer Questions & Our Answers

Q1: Dealing with challenging “sticky clay” in alluvial gold deposits – how does your processing plant specifically tackle this issue?

A: Our plant incorporates several specialized features to overcome sticky clay challenges:

1. Clay-breaking trommel scrubber: Custom-designed with 20 high-pressure rotating nozzles (3.5 bar pressure) that create a turbulent washing action to completely disaggregate clay clumps

2. Dual-stage vibrating screening:
– Primary screen with 50Hz frequency for aggressive material separation
– Secondary screen with adjustable amplitude (3-8mm) for fine material control

3. Optimized sluice configuration:
– 55° angle riffles for positive gold retention
– Modular matting system that can be quickly changed when processing clay-heavy material

4. Final concentration using Wilfley-style shaking tables with adjustable stroke (8-12mm) to handle clay-contaminated concentrates

This system has consistently achieved >92% gold recovery in the clay-rich alluvial deposits, even with >40% clay content in feed material.

Q2: Your processing plant needs to recover both fine (0-6mm) and coarse (6-12mm) gold – what’s your unique technical solution for this?

A: We’ve engineered a precision classification system with sequential recovery:

1. Primary sizing:
– Heavy-duty 70mm grizzly bars remove oversized waste rock (capacity 50t/hr)
– Extended 5.5m trommel (30% longer than standard) with progressive screening

2. Dual high-frequency screening:
– Stage 1: 6mm polyurethane screens (60Hz) with spray bars for complete fines liberation
– Stage 2: 12mm wedge-wire screens for mid-size particle control

3. Targeted recovery:
– Fine gold (<6mm): 4 underflow sluices with expanded metal riffles
– Coarse gold (6-12mm): Dedicated 5th sluice with deep V-riffles and lower water velocity
– Oversize (>12mm): Recirculation conveyor for secondary processing

This configuration achieves 94-97% recovery across all gold size fractions while maintaining throughput of 100t/hr in real operation conditions.
