Solutions & Process

This project is located in Sierra Leone, where a local mining company specializes in small-scale alluvial gold mining. The customer needed a reliable, easy-to-operate, and cost-effective gold washing plant to process alluvial gold ore efficiently.

Based on the customer’s mining conditions and production requirements, we designed a 100TPH alluvial gold washing plant featuring a trommel screen, gold centrifugal concentrator, sluice boxes, and shaking table. The plant is designed for efficient gold recovery, simple operation, and convenient maintenance, with the flexibility to expand production capacity in the future.

Ore Conditions & Plant Specifications

Parameter Specification
Processing Capacity 100 TPH (expandable to 200-350 TPH)
Max. Feeding Size ≤80 mm
Gold-bearing material size 0–3 mm fine material and 3–15 mm material
Ore Type Alluvial gold without sticky clay

The main challenge was to design a simple washing and gravity separation system that could efficiently recover gold from different particle-size fractions while minimizing operating and maintenance costs.

Main Requirements Included

  • Stable processing capacity of 100TPH.
  • Efficient washing and screening of alluvial gold ore.
  • Effective recovery of fine gold and larger gold particles.
  • Simple operation and convenient equipment maintenance.
  • Low operating costs and a practical plant layout.
  • Flexible design to support future capacity expansion.

To meet these requirements, our engineers developed a customized gold washing and recovery solution based on the raw ore characteristics and the customer’s production goals.

Process Design Solution

1. Loader feeder feed raw ore smoothly to trommel screen ,it’s with grizzly bar to remove +80mm over size big stone. (This design helps protect downstream equipment, prevent blockages, reduce unnecessary wear, and maintain a stable feeding process.)

2.Trommel screen is for washing without sticky clay raw ore , with 2 layer screen(3mm & 15mm), screen out the waste +15mm sending to stock pile on ground by gravity way , 0-3mm to gold centrifugal to recvoery gold ,1 set sluice box will recovery gold tailings from gold centrifugal , and 3-15mm material go to two sets sluice box to recovery gold.

3. The 0-3 mm gold concentrate ore is washed out from the centrifugal concentrator, then a shaking table is used to concentrate again. The 3-15 mm concentrate ore can be washed again by hand panning to increase gold purity, then all gold concentrate ore is made into gold bars using a gold smelting furnace.

The 100TPH alluvial gold washing plant offers several practical advantages:
1. Simple process flowsheet: The equipment arrangement is straightforward to operate.
2. Efficient gold recovery: Centrifugal concentration and sluice boxes target different gold particle-size fractions.
3. Reduced equipment costs: A trommel screen is used instead of a trommel scrubber because the raw ore contains no sticky clay.
4. Easy maintenance: The relatively simple equipment configuration helps simplify routine inspection and maintenance.
5. Flexible capacity planning: The plant concept can be adapted to different production requirements, subject to engineering review and equipment configuration.
6. Additional concentrate upgrading: A shaking table and manual panning help improve concentrate quality before smelting.

Customer Questions & Our Answers

① Why trommel screen’s hopper with grazzly bar ?
In washing and screening production lines with a capacity of 100 tons per hour or more, the inclusion of grizzly bars (screening bars) on the feed hopper serves several key purposes: protecting equipment, preventing jams or blockages, and enhancing overall washing and screening efficiency.

  • They block oversized rocks, thereby protecting the trommel screen and other downstream equipment.
  • They prevent the feed inlet and the trommel drum from becoming jammed or clogged.
  • They reduce wear and tear on the trommel screen, extending its service life.

② Why use a trommel screen instead of a trommel scrubber for washing?
We determine whether to use a trommel scrubber machine or a trommel screen based on the customer’s mining site conditions. In this customer’s case, the material at their mining site is without sticky clay, and it’s very easy to clean.

③ Why use gold centrifugal?
Centrifuges generate immense centrifugal force, effectively addressing the issue of fine-gold loss by efficiently recovering “micro-fine gold” and “flour gold”—particles that traditional equipment fails to capture.

④ Why use so many sluice boxes?
Because this customer’s gold particles were relatively large, our engineers designed the process based on his ore characteristics: 3- 15 mm particles were fed into 2 sets of sluice boxes for gold recovery, and one set was used to recover gold tailings from centrifugal; this approach ensures the best possible recovery rate.

⑤ Do your products have CE or ISO certificates?
Yes, all the equipment in this order has CE certificates and ISO certificates.
